BIO
ANKITHA KRISH
Ankitha Krish is a singer-songwriter, artist manager, and event coordinator from San Jose, California. She grew up with a true passion and great ear for music; South Indian Carnatic music is the foundation of her musical knowledge. Ankitha learned Carnatic voice and violin for the first half of her life, then delved into songwriting around the age of 12. Ankitha progressed into Western style voice and piano lessons, and decided that the songwriting path was for them. During her junior year of high school, Krish compiled her best songs into an EP, titled “Walls,” released in 2018.
Ankitha takes pride in her ability to sing in various different styles, taking advantage of her lower range. She also plays the piano, ukulele, and is an intermediate guitarist. Krish’s style of music blossoms from neo soul and pop-rock, with inspirations such as Erykah Badu and Miguel.
Ankitha is currently pursuing a Professional Music degree concentrating in Songwriting and Music Business at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Passionate about their songwriting community, Ankitha is currently the Berklee Songwriter’s Club club president. Ankitha is currently working on her next EP release, featuring songs from her college journey and experience.
MISSION STATEMENT
As a Tamilian - American Musician working in today's music industry, Ankitha's ultimate goal is to deliver a diverse music scene to today's popular culture. Songwriting has been an outlet for Ankitha ever since she was young. Through life’s hardships, music seems to help everybody find themselves. Ankitha found herself constantly writing songs, but not always desiring to be in the limelight of the stage. Although our industry is growing in diversity, Ankitha wants to see more POC women representation in today's music scene. She wants to use her songwriting skills not only to give the world meaningful art, but to help those in need.
